I designed this project to challenge myself. It is made up of two things I do not normally do: portrait photography and approaching strangers. The idea was to examine the experience of connecting with strangers and how even a brief conversation can change the way you see each other. I superimposed a quote from our conversation to give the viewer a glimpse into these individual's lives. While we had loose, unplanned conversations, I always asked how they would introduce themselves to a stranger and what makes them smile.
Taken on the campus of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Thank you to all the strangers willing to work with me on this project.
